FifPro Footballer’08
The honour, voted for by professional footballers from all over the world, was widely expected after Ronaldo scored 42 goals for United last season.
Ronaldo was also named in the FifPro team of the year, alongside his United team-mate Rio Ferdinand.
“To be recognised by my fellow players is amazing,” said the 23-year-old.

United’s Big Victory Against Celtic in Champions League
The partnership between Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov looked enigmatic and Rooney’s red hot form continued as United thrashed Celtic 3-0 in their champions League fixture.
Dimitar Berbatov looked offside when he flicked home a close-range finish to put United ahead after 30 minutes.
And there were similar doubts about his second, turned in on the rebound after Celtic keeper Artur Boruc could not hold Cristiano Ronaldo’s free-kick.
Bangladesh lost opportunity : paid the price of being over defensive
Mohammad Ashraful’s two misses - one to run Jacob Oram out and other to get Flynn caught, are going to hurt every Bangladesh supporter as the end provided more than little drama. Irony is the winning run was also scored from a miss-field! Earlier Bangladesh paid the price of being over defensive as usual. Daniel Vettori fell with 17 runs to go, later on KIwis lost two more wickets before grabbing the win.
Earlier, a captain’s innings from Daniel Vettori on a riveting final day in Chittagong left New Zealand at tea needing 36 runs for a famous win. The ghosts of Multan and Fatullah will be in Bangladesh minds as their hunt for a first win against major opposition looks set to be prolonged.
India’s outrageous win over Australia in the 1st test completed
Australia had the upper hand in this match for two hours in the first day but that is about it. The rest belongs to India. Be it Tendulkar’s record breaking 88, Saurav’s full of character 102 in his last series, Amit Mishra’s 5 wicket haul or Harbhajan Singh - Zaheer Khan show in the second innings; India had its moments. After the tremendous work done over four days, they needed less than a session on the fifth morning to defeat Australia, sealing the Test by 320 runs, their biggest margin of victory in terms of runs ever. Zaheer Khan nipped out three wickets in the space of four deliveries when play started, and though Michael Clarke resisted with 69, it was always going to be a matter of when India would take a 1-0 series lead. In terms of runs, it was Australia’s biggest loss to India since Melbourne, 1977.
